Compact control and protection device for single-phase photovoltaic installations where backup application and island mode operation are required. It incorporates permanent overvoltage protection with automatic reconnection and magnetothermal protection with IGA 2x16A of 6kA.

When COMBI-PRO-MAX detects a power outage or failure in the electrical grid, its operation in island mode disconnects the photovoltaic installation from the main grid and sends a signal to the inverter to activate the Backup operation mode. It can work with configuration in Total Backup or Backup critical loads. The reconnection to the grid will occur once the grid voltage is restored and remains within the normal range for at least three minutes. In accordance with ITC-BT-40 and ITC-BT-53 standards.

COMBI-PRO-MAX is a compact device for installations with solar panels where backup mode operation is required. It integrates magnetothermal protection by 2x16A IGA and protection against permanent overvoltage with automatic reconnection when the network is operational again, thus avoiding placing a surge protector prior to the equipment and saving space by eliminating an element in the panel.


The backup systems allow maintaining, from self-consumption, the energy supply in homes and facilities in case of power cuts or failures in the power supply. The integration of these systems is very useful and important in any photovoltaic installation where autonomy, efficiency and profitability are sought. These systems, also known as emergency systems or energy backup systems, allow maintaining the operation of critical and indispensable equipment in the event of power outages. They combine solar panels and batteries where the solar energy captured during the day is accumulated to be used later when it is needed, thus guaranteeing the electricity supply after its generation when solar production is not sufficient. But the operation of the batteries, i.e., being able to use the energy accumulated in them is only possible through the inverter, so if there is a failure in the power grid, the inverter and the battery will stop working and the use of the accumulated energy will not be effective.


It is in these cases when COMBI-PRO-MAX acts; it monitors uninterruptedly the grid voltage and when it detects a failure or power outage in the power grid, it disconnects the downstream loads from the grid, connects the neutral of the solar inverter to ground and sends the activation signal of the island mode to the inverter, activating again the supply to these loads. When the power supply returns to normal, for at least 3 minutes, the unit will deactivate the island mode signal and reconnect the loads downstream of the COMBI-PRO-MAX to the main grid.
It allows the power supply and operation of all loads or only critical loads, by allowing operation in full backup mode or backup of critical loads.


Loss of power supply: When the mains power supply is lost, the equipment triggers the IGA disconnecting the loads connected downstream of it, connecting the neutral of the inverter to the ground at the same time and after this the inverter island mode activation signal will be activated. In this operating mode, the IGA handle can be manually raised, so that in the event of power loss due to overconsumption the installation can be reset.

Overvoltage and undervoltage: When the voltage exceeds or falls below the limits established in the standard (UNE-EN50550), the equipment triggers the IGA. Once tripped, the inverter island mode will be activated in the same way as a power loss occurs, except that in this case the handle cannot be raised manually, when the voltage recovers within the established margins and is maintained for at least 3 minutes, the equipment will reset the IGA by reconnecting the voltage to the grid.

Mode switch: It has a switch that allows to put the installation in forced island mode, this allows to check the installation, make maintenance or other checks.

Status indicator: It has a LED pilot light that indicates the status of the input voltage and the island mode.
